Hello and welcome to my wonderful world of cute stationery, made to brighten up your workspace and make getting tasks done a little more fun! AbiNova is a completely home run, one woman band, business. Everything is done by me, from the designs to the marketing.

How I became an artist

I began drawing way back in 2014/15, when I was still in secondary school. I was going through a rough time, I had developed alopecia areata and lost a lot of hair.  Safe to say going bald as a teenager was not the best experience when hormones are already through the roof, it's a venerable time in most peoples lives and going bald only heightened all of this for me. I began to find it increasingly hard to leave the house, going to school was a chore and I would avoid it as much as I could.

I developed social anxiety and felt chained to my bed. Of course, staying in bed all day is boring, even if it felt "safe", so I had to find ways to entertain myself, and I did this by, well... drawing! 

While not the happiest start to our story here, that was they very start of my journey to becoming an artist and since then art has not only been an escape but it's the reason I'm here with a small business and a wonderful community! 

How did AbiNova come to be?

 I had wanted to start a small business for years, but due to a lack of confidence in myself, I kept pushing it back and instead went to university to do animation.

While I had a great time at University, once it was over I was once again confronted with the questions "what now?".

I decided to once again procrastinate chasing my dream and got a full time job. It only lasted a few weeks as after dealing with an awful customer and crying as I realised the path I was on was never the one I wanted. As sad as it is, it was the kick up the butt I needed to chase my dream and thus - AbiNova was born!

Why we make cute stationery.

Both in school and work, I often found myself stuck at grey desks that offered little to no inspiration. I realised quickly that my desk space made a huge impact on both my productivity and organisation!

I decided I wanted to help students, workers or even just those who appreciate cute accessories to live a more fun-filled and colourful workspace. So with my 10 years of art experience behind me, I decided to set off and start creating a world full of bright and enchanting stationery to make working fun again!

Because why would you have a boring plain laptop over one with lots of adorable stickers all over it, right?

Why is it called AbiNova?

AbiNova Is named after the two Mascots, Abi and Nova the cat! If you keep an eye out you can see the two hanging about the website together! If you'd like to learn more of their story you can head to the AbiNova Instagram, to meet the mascots!
